Bereavement Leave

We know the death of a family member is a time when you wish to be with the rest of your family. If you wish to take time off due to the death of a family member you have to notify your manager as soon as possible.

Paid bereavement leave will be granted according to the following schedule:

  • Employees are allowed up to 3 days off from regularly scheduled duty with regular pay in the event of the death of the employee's mother, father, spouse, domestic partner, sibling, child, or dependent.

  • Employees are allowed 1 day off from regularly scheduled duty with regular pay in the event of the death of the employee's grandparent, stepchild, stepparent, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, stepbrother, stepsister, or an adult who stood in loco parentis to the employee during childhood.

In addition to bereavement leave, an employee may, with his or her manager's approval, use available paid time off or personal days for additional approved time off as necessary.
