Paid Time Off

When you join OneLocal, we expect everyone to “go the extra mile” as part of our values. We also know that it’s equally important to balance that extra effort with time for yourself, your family and/or your friends

One way we do this is to make sure you take enough time off to recharge.

Paid Time Off Entitlement

Each full-time permanent employee is entitled to 15 days of paid time off per calendar year (unless otherwise specified in the terms of your employment contract).  After 5 years of employment with OneLocal, congratulations! You will now be entitled to 20 days of paid time off per calendar year!

To help you have proper visibility on your valuable time-off, your time-off will accrue on a daily basis in our human resources information system (BambooHR). You are nonetheless allowed to take more than you have accrued and get a negative balance as long as your manager approves it.

Your Paid Time Off Balance

You can see how many paid time off days you have at any given time through BambooHR!  Just log into your account, and under “Time Off”, you can see your balances:

New Employees & Paid Time Off

For new employees who have just joined OneLocal, as the goal is to be present for you and to support you in your first 3 months, if you need to take time off within this period, the guideline is that you only take 1 day off per month during your probation period (unless prior arrangements were made before your start date, e.g. for pre-planned trips/vacations).

This will help us make sure that you have enough facetime with your team and your manager as you transition into your new role.

If you need more time then allowed above, please speak with your manager about what options you may have.

Requesting and Scheduling Time Off

Time off scheduling should balance out the needs of your team and your projects/tasks, as well as the needs of the company. While we will try hard to accommodate your requests, it may not be possible in all cases.

Depending on your team, your manager may have requirements for how far in advance you must request time off, so it’s important to check in with them to confirm these requirements before booking your time-off.  If there are no specific requirements, the guideline is that you submit time off request that are longer than 4 days through BambooHR at least 2 weeks in advance. This allows your manager to have time to plan for when you are away. If there are special circumstances, please discuss with your manager.

Carrying Over PaidTime Off

Because we firmly believe in providing a good work/life balance each year, we encourage and expect you to take your full entitlement within the calendar year.

But just in case it really is not possible for you to be away from the business, we will allow you to carry over a maximum of 5 days.

Paid Time Off at Termination of Employment

Should your employment terminate with OneLocal (either voluntarily or involuntarily), and you have used more paid time off than you have earned, we will deduct the paid time off that has been taken but not earned from your final pay.  Alternatively, any paid time off that was earned up to and including your end date and not used will be paid out on your final pay.
